About The Author

“Kimberly Childs’s book is a rich read—a poignant, occasionally harrowing, but ultimately redemptive account of a life of longing, and not just that of the author but all of us to some degree. It speaks eloquently of how we are often defined by the empty places in our lives, the missing pieces, and presents a compelling and compassionate portrait of the gulf that often exists between how we want life to be and how it actually is, between our reach and our grasp. I offer Childs—and her book—a high-five for courage and stoutheartedness.”

Kimberly Childs’ memoir shows courage and grace that touches me down to my bones.

Amy Roberts

Psychotherapist

Kimberly Childs’ memoir is very skilled with wonderfully creative descriptions and original images.  She evokes time, place and character expertly and her sensory detail is exquisite.  She tells a touching, heartrending story, developed without being maudlin.  It is also an intriguing account of semi-celebrity life.

In this colorful memoir, Kimberly Childs searches for the love and home her glamorous, alcoholic mother is unable to provide. Her mother is a mountain woman with unusual charisma—a real-life Holly GoLightly—who marries Broadway’s meanest, but most celebrated producer, David Merrick, and proceeds to self-destruct. Bounced from place to place, Childs grows up in Lady Eden’s English boarding school, London’s prestigious Savoy Hotel, a her grandparents’ Kentucky farm (complete with outhouse), a Manhattan private girls’ school, and amongst Broadway’s theaters.

Seeking connection on the streets and in the communes of 1960s San Francisco, Childs discovers serenity through meditation and the Dances of Universal Peace.  Aspiring for transformation, she finds home in Guru Sri Chinmoy’s ashram—then realizes she must trust her own instincts and after nearly eleven years courageously walks away. A touching story of compassion and forgiveness, Remember Me As Loving You is a compelling read of family and betrayal, of courage and fortitude, and of inspiration to find and, ultimately, be one’s self.

September 19, 2017:

“Kimberly Childs’s beautiful and lyrical writing tells her story of healing and following her heart. She shows us that healing isn’t what we think it is but rather a transformation of the heart.”

Peggy Tabor Millin

Author of:

"Writing in Circles: A Celebration of Women’s Writing"

"Mary’s Way: Cultivating a Peaceful Heart in Trying Times"

"Women, Writing and Soul-Making: Creativity and the Sacred Feminine"

Like so many of us, Kimberly Childs’ life has been a tapestry of experiences.  This memoir shares her journey, spanning continents, cultures and -- most importantly -- the territory of the human heart.   Honest, eloquent and brave, her story is a beautiful testament to how far she has traveled along the path towards understanding and wholeness.

Attorney and Writing Professor

Kimberly Childs has done a magnificent job of writing from the heart while maintaining the writer’s distance and objectivity.  Her mother and relatives come alive on the page.  The tone is heartfelt but not self-pitying.  I couldn’t put it down – even though I know how it turns out!

Author of: "Think of Me Now and Then"

I am in awe of Kimberly Childs’ forthrightness in expressing her experience throughout her memoir.  She uses detail and simile well.  Powerfully written and very compelling.
